Five Reflections
We pause before our meal in this quiet, gentle space, And sense the infinite universe in our simple grace. The earth, the sky, the sun, the rain, the labor, love, and care, All gathered in this food we hold and with each other share.. May we receive in gratitude, attentive, calm, aware, With mindful hearts that honor all the work that brought it here. May we be worthy of this gift, in thought and word and deed, And cherish every humble bite that satisfies our need. May we look deep within ourselves before we start to eat, Transforming seeds of greed and hate to thoughts both kind and sweet. With moderation as our guide, not driven to excess, We know that true contentment lives in mindful thankfulness. May compassion shape the choices we make from day to day, May our strength bring life and care, not suffering or dismay. So we can serve all living beings with steady hearts and true, With strength, with peace, with clarity in everything we do. Sādhu
