Apple Tree

“Compose your poems out loud”, she said, "Recite them to the listening trees." Our tree stands silent as if dead, Waiting to unfurl this new year’s leaves Waiting for warm sun to dry the breeze And feed the blossoms that feed the bees. Then Mason mommies will gather pollen-food, Happy Honeybees will wiggle their dancing mood. This Spring, silently listen for an hour And hear bees buzz from flower to flower. As our generous tree takes note by forming A ring to mark the growing season’s passing. All these ensure sweet apples will appear To fall this Fall and feed the feral deer.
